About us

Founded in March 2023, Ultreïa, a choral ensemble with a variable lineup, aims to uplift, bring beauty, harmony, and joy through sacred singing, and to share the fruits of this work among its members and with audiences. With its mission of uniting peoples, it fosters interactions between different cultures, creates synergies, and enriches the cultural life of its environment through its performances. Ultreïaheld its inaugural concert at the Temple of Lutry on March 17, 2024, with the collaboration of the Fribourg Maîtrise and professional singers, featuring a program dedicated to Ola Gjeilo, William Byrd, and songs by Master Peter Deunov set to music by Gilles Hainault. It is now embarking on a new journey, engaging with diverse cultures and participating in various festivals worldwide. Its name, a Latin expression accompanying pilgrims on the paths of St. James of Compostela, means “always go further.” For this reason, Ultreïawelcomes members from all backgrounds, at all levels, relying on fraternal cooperation to create harmony without prior requirements, except for a love of sharing and singing.
